Mums 2nd Anniversary
Today is the 2nd Anniversary of my mothers death. She was a wonderful mum, friend, Nanna & wife.
My friends, daughter, grand kids & myself gathered today for lunch in memory of Marguerite.
We had lots of memories, laughs & good food & wine & of course mums favourite ginger fluff sponge.
It seems ironic that kangaroos & Carlton were playing against each other tonight as those are her only 2 children's football teams. It was a great game and only won in the end by one point. Unfortunately it wasn't my team that won, but I think mum had a hand in that, knowing that I would accept the loss better than my brother.
RIP MUM. Love you & miss you every day!
Post Surgery
Zoeybugs 2nd birthday, Nan went to hospital and missed out on the party!!
Here we are 9 weeks & 2 days after surgery & I'm still recovering.
It seems like all my wounds and infections have all cleared up now! It's just a case
Of this pinched nerve.
Stuck between my collar bone & first ribs called a thoracic outlet syndrome!!
Very uncommon, nevertheless I've managed to get it. Extremely annoying & painful.
Gallbladder
OMG
Well Tuesday I left home at 6.15am, walked to the neighbours and got a lift to the local hospital.
Today was the day for my gallbladder surgery!!
They were very quick at processing me & I was first in line to go to theatre, so by 8.20am I was in the room outside the operating theatre ready to go.
I don't recall much after this until around 11.30am where I was struggling to wake up.
The nursing staff kept touching me but I just wanted to sleep lol funny as!!
After a couple more hours rest/sleep I really did need to wake up & eat & drink something as they were sending me home :)
I was picked up by my daughter & taken home for my recovery with my grandchildren.
Everyone was happy to see me when I got home which was good news.
For dinner tonight I really wanted liquid, my mouth was so dry from being in theatre & obviously the tubes down my throat. I drank & drank & drank.
Had some visitors who said I looked pretty good and I must admit I felt ok!
Wednesday
Sleeping was very different!!
There were/was/is NO comfortable positions when you have 4 cuts all around your stomach & they've had all their tools in there poking & prodding around. certainly feels like I've been someone's punching bag! Ouch!
Anyway, it was suck it up Princess and deal with it.
2.45am little patter of feet & grandson no 1 appears for a cuddle with Nan as he's had a bad dream!! So he hops in, very carefully so as not to bump Nans sore belly!!
Finally he went off to sleep!
I couldn't sleep, so watched tv, dozed on & off, played games, read magazines etc. I wouldn't say I was in pain, it's more like being uncomfortable. Painful to move but bearable.
New day rested & relaxed most of the day. Few visitors called. Friends are staying with us to Help with cooking etc
I did nothing!!
We did however find the disastrous smell that's been living in my fridge for a week or so!!
Thursday
Here we are again, very early am, uncomfortable to sleep :( thought I'd catch up on my blog. Stomach painful to stretch, turning over, getting up & down, can't lay on it. Trying to get comfortable is a nightmare lol I guess I could just take more drugs but I'm not into them.
Well it's 6.23am very quiet house here, no one moving. I want to get up & get a coffee but don't want to disturb anyone!!
BRB
I finished up getting up & getting a glass of water, went back to bed. Dozed on & off until my grandson came in, cuddled & watched the cartoons.
Finally the rest of the house woke up & breakfast was brought into me in bed!! Feeling very spoilt. Have taken my painkillers but they don't seem to be doing much.
Friday
Same as previous day, slightly worse.
Saturday may 18th
ZOEYS BIRTHDAY
it was a busy morning!!
Breakfast in bed, not feeling very flash at all. Lunch was at McDonald's, then home before the afternoons shenanigans were in full swing. Well couple of girlfriends turned up, took one look at me and as quick as lightening, I was being readmitted in the local hospital with massive pain and infection. Drugged up to boot, I was poked, prodded, scanned, ultra sound, injected and quite frankly couldn't of given a continental as I was that sick.
Sunday 19th May 2013
Hospital food is crap!! Visitors today & yummy food arrived :) thanks to my gorgeous daughter!! Quite the experience was had during the day but I will spare you all that story as it was disgusting!!
Monday. 20th May 2013
Still here , resting, being waited on hand & foot.
Tuesday. 21st May 2013
Still here, still getting inspected like a freak several times a day!!
Still pumping antibiotics in, pain killers, anti inflammatories & my usual drugs of addiction!!
Waiting around for lunch & nurse comes in & says your going home with a district nurse, we need the bed!!! OMG really, you give me no notice & I have to find someone to pick me up pretty much immediately!!!
DD was miles away, anyway I managed.
JUNE 12th 2013
Here we are 3 weeks down the track & several dressing changes later at the GP, 2 trips back to the surgeon, I couldn't begin to think how many dressings my DD has changed & finally things are looking up!!
Oh and did I mention the pinched nerve that I have been suffering with for the past 3 weeks as well!
A trip to the Osteo yesterday has started some relief there. Thank goodness.
